OPERA

Our world class opera collection includes production photographs from all the great opera houses including London's Royal Opera House, the English National Opera, the New York's Met, the San Francisco Opera House, the Sydney Opera House and many of the internationally acclaimed opera festivals including Glyndebourne. Dafne (1597) by Jacopo Peri is commonly regarded as the first opera and Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) the first great opera composer. Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini followed and, from the golden age (19th to 20th century) there was Wagner, Verdi, Puccini and Strauss. We hold images of all the great opera composers, conductors and singers. We cover traditional works as well as the more modern by Schoenberg, Britten, Tippett, Berg, Stravinsky, Philip Glass, Harrison Birtwistle and John Adams. Artists include Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras , Terfel, Hvorostovsky, Callas, Baker, Scholl, Te Kanawa, Schwarzkof, Bostridge, Sutherland, Kraus, Geraint Evans, Popp, Ferrier, Kozena, von Otter, Lott, Murray, Caballe, Norman, Tomlinson, Allen and many more.
