The ArenaPAL collection stretches right back to the origins of musical theatre with Gilbert and Sullivan, the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, and Edwardian comedies such as A Gaiety Girl, Our Miss Gibbs and Chu Chin Chow.We also represent an extensive archive of production shots, portraits, posters, and behind the scenes images covering the 'Golden Age' of the genre - with 1940s and 50s shows including Showboat, Oklahoma, Carousel, The Sound of Music and The King and I, along with major names such as Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hart, KurtWeill, George and Ira Gershwin, and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Moving through the 60’s (My Fair Lady, West Side Story, The Fantasticks, Fiddler on the Roof, Hello Dolly, Irma La Douce) to the rock and broadway musicals of the 70s (Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, A Chorus Line, Annie) and the arrival of the internationally successful British musicals of the 80s (Evita, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Me and My Girl, Chess, Les Miserable) we have images from musicals both great and small, successful and disastrous!
